"Breathe Between Sleep..."

Quietly pulsing from the rolling Scottish countryside, Christ. has been cobbling together finely textured slabs of analog haze and crunchy beats since he parted ways with the venerable Boards Of Canada in the mid-nineties. Fortunately for us, his latest LP, "Blue Shift Emissions," succeeds in many places where his former compatriots' failed. More concerned with the cosmos than padding about in the loamey, sun speckled thickets of "The Campfire Headphase," Christ. is all about sepia tinted synthesizers beaming into the furthest reaches of the galaxy, bouncing off of distant satellites for retransmission to polar waystations on Pluto's moons. We like to think of mechanized snow foxes stalking their prey on Charon as the straining rays of the sun glint off its frozen surface - but then, what do we really know about space travel, anyway? Here are two hearty slices of this milky celestial goodness. Mm-mm-mmmm. "Happyfour Twenty," indeed!
