Quick post today, in honor of the return of the mighty Stars of the Lid! Their new (double!) LP "And Their Refinement Of The Decline" drops on April 2nd via Kranky Records, and showcases the end results of five years of sculpting, tweaking and perfecting. Two tracks have made their way out into the world, and what a tease they are. The boys are in fine form, pulling the orchestral and classically informed elements hinted at on their classic "The Tired Sounds Of..." album to the fore and downplaying the resonant drone that typified their earlier work. The end result: a majestic and graceful sonic document that is sure to bring a touch of thoughtfulness to your spring. While we wait for the painfully far away release date, take heart and pad about your habitat listening to these billowing beauties to keep warm...
